Yi wu city introduction
Yiwu is a city in central Zhejiang Province in China. It is 300 kilometers away from Shanghai, one-hour trip to Hangzhou International Airport and is also adjacent to the Oriental Super Port – Ningbo Port. Yiwu is world famous for its largest wholesale market of consumer goods and called as “a city based on the market” and “paradise for the purchasers”.

Yiwu is famous for its large wholesale market- China Commodity City (often shorted as CCC), which was honored by the UN, the World Bank and the Morgan Stanley amongst other world authorities in 2005 as the “largest small commodity wholesale market in the world”. China Commodity City has three market clusters of International Trade Mart, Huangyuan Market and Binwang Market. The International Trade Mart is the main one and the biggest.
Yiwu China Commodity City covers an area of 4.3 million square meters, with 62,000 booths inside. 100,000 suppliers exhibit 400,000 kinds of products almost every day from 9 am to 5 pm (except the holidays of Chinese Spring Festival ). The products are from around 40 industries and of 2,000 different categories. 65% of these products are exported to over 215 countries and regions.
Yiwu China Commodity City is more like a permanent fair instead of a traditional wholesale market. It has developed into an information, innovation, exhibition and distribution center for consumer goods. It gives complete logistic and IT support inside the market, which is necessary for nowadays trade, and also offers a modern shopping-mall like infrastructure.
Paradise for the international purchasers
10,000 foreigners from more than 100 countries have become residents of Yiwu for business purpose. In 2008, 520,000 containers filled with all kinds of products are exported from here to over 200 countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner of Refugee), and China Mobile have also set up their procurement information centers here. In Yiwu, there are over 2,500 registered foreign companies or representative offices.

Now there are 25,000 production enterprises of different scales in Yiwu. Among those are 16 leading industries such as knitting products and socks, ornaments, craftworks, etc.. Yiwu has been awarded the title of “the best exhibition city in China” and “the exhibition city with the most potential”. About 100 fairs and conferences are held in Yiwu every year. China Yiwu International Commodity Fair (i.e. Yiwu Fair) is the biggest fair of daily consumer goods in China.
